Amma has told us what happens if you put a frog into a saucepan full of hot water: he will jump out. But if the water is only warm, the frog will stay there even though the water is heating up.
I thought about this when taking the last logs from the woodpile, which have become a home for woodlice. I try to brush them off the logs, but they keep crawling around. Their environment in the log basket is becoming unsustainable; where are they going to go?
And where are humans going to jump to as the Earth heats up?
