In many parts of India, such as Maharashtra, West Bengal and the Deccan Plateau, where the rain falls only in the monsoon season, the Paani Foundation and DRCSC have encouraged villages to create CCT’s (trenches along contours), terraced ponds and 30:40 areas to capture that rain and store it in the groundwater table.
