Timbaktu is a kind of oasis in a desert district of Andhra Pradesh that was once heavily forested until the trees were cut down to lay railway lines.

“In just 20 years, hundreds of acres have become green again.  There is no monoculture here.  Instead, there is a rich diversity; fruit trees thrive among neem and other indigenous varieties.  Many animals and birds have come back to the land.

The couple takes no credit for this miraculous transformation, though.  “It was quite simple, really, so simple that most people find it difficult to believe.  Mother Nature knows how to revive Herself.  We only need to lend a small helping hand,” they say.”
